Art Show and Sale This Month!
The Valley Visual Artists will be hosting their first Country Christmas Art Sale at the Civic Center Tea Room during the Country Christmas Celebration on Friday, November 23rd and Saturday, November 24th!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone and encourage the theme of 'Give the Gift of Art' this holiday season!

VVA AGM
The Valley Visual Artists held it's Annual General Meeting last Sunday and the new executive consists of:
President: Fran McMurchy Secretary: Heidi Koehler Treasurer: Shirley Sauviat Director at Large: Jack Picken
Plans are afoot for our Winter Show and Sale and we are looking forward to showcasing the wonderful art works of our members! With Christmas soon upon us the November show promises to be full of excellent potential gifts for the holidays!
On the subject of members: membership dues are a mere 10 dollars which should be paid up before December 31st, 2012.
New members are encouraged to join up and be part of an active artistic community that puts out two popular art exhibitions each year, has workshops and lessons with well-known accomplished professionals, and regularly hosts creative art sessions that are extremely productive and informative to the creation of art.

18th Annual Valley Visual Art Show & Sale
RESULTS
The successful 18th annual Valley Visual Artists show and sale provided attendees a wide range of mediums and subject matter to view as well as illustrated the artistic talent of members of the Nicola Valley club.
Those attending the show were invited to choose their favourite pieces of art. Best In Show went to Fran McMurchy for her watercolour painting titled “Shoreline Meadows”. Fran also took second place with her four miniature apple paintings titled “Orchard” done in acrylic with Bev Veale receiving third place with her pencil sketch of “Shandi”.
The club also held a Tooney Draw offering seven donated items with the following results:

Purse – S. Butler
Flower Painting –Wendy Eeckhout
Jewell Box – Gloria Pongracz
Sunglasses – Wendy Eeckhout
Gloves & Clutch – Robin Brodie

Many thanks to Shirley Sauviat and her crew for hanging the art and managing the show and sale; to Sharon Hartwick who provided pleasant music on her beautiful harp; to Cecilia Dyck and her pianists (Jensen Cavaliere, Sarah Grund, Gabby and Haley Zabek) as well as Sophia Hartwick for their entertainment during the reception.
A special thank you to the Nicola Valley Arts Council for the use of their grand piano and for Kurt’s assistance.

Annual Show and Sale
The Valley Visual Artists Annual Show and Sale begins this Friday, March 23rd, at the Merritt Civic Center!
Our reception begins at 5:00 and goes until 8:00pm.
The show runs until Sunday, March 25th.
Besides wall art there will be a boutique display of smaller items, a tooney draw, and refreshments served.
We hope to see you there this weekend!

2011-2012 VVA FALL NEWSLETTER
Potluck December 18
Members are invited to attend our annual Christmas Potluck on Sunday, December 18 starting at 4 pm at the home of Shirley Sauviat. The menu has been changed to lasagna so those attending are requested to bring an appropriate desert, salad and/or refreshments to add to the goodies. Please phone Shirley or Jack Picken if you have something specific you would like to bring. We will be contacting members prior to the potluck.
Monthly Creative Sessions
The second get together of the 2011-12 season involving the monthly creative sessions of the VVA was held at the home of Fran in Lower Nicola. Four attended the first October session with five at the November art session.
New Year Activities
The first creative gathering of the New Year will be held at the home of Bev Veale on Monday, January 16 from 12 to 4 pm. Come visit and/or be creative.
Members wishing to volunteer to host a session in 2012 or to offer their ideas for additional creative events at all levels please contact Bev at 250-378-6001.
Important Membership Meeting
A membership meeting will be scheduled for mid-January (date & location TBA) to discuss the annual show and sale as well as to give those interested in membership in the VVA the final opportunity to pay their dues before the deadline for participation in the annual show, scheduled for late March.

VVA Return To Roots
Members of the Valley Visual Artists decided at their annual general meeting in September to “return to their roots”. Simply put, they wanted to pursue their art in a creative, social atmosphere.
As a result all members are invited to attend the various events scheduled over the next year. Creative activities have been set up on alternating 3rd Sundays and Mondays of each month at various locations to facilitate those who work during the week and those who are free on Mondays.
The next session will be at Fran McMurchy’s home from 12 noon to 4 pm on Sunday, November 20th. If you are interested in attending please give Fran a call.
