We are a gathering of diverse artists centered in Merritt, B.C., which lies in the Thompson-Nicola Valley. We come from a variety of backgrounds and each of us brings something artistically and personally unique to this group. Among us are painters, pencil and charcoal artists, sculptors, carvers, photographers, and digital artists of all ages and levels of skill.

The Valley Visual Artists 17th Annual Art Show and Sale



The Valley Visual Artists will be having their 17th annual art show and sale from May 6th to 28th.
This weekend come and join us in support of the arts!

This year we will be located at the Courthouse Gallery located at 1840, Nicola Avenue, Merritt.

A reception will be held on Friday, May 6th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
May 7th hours will be from 10:00am to 4:00pm
May 8th hours will be from 10:00am to 4:00pm

Regular gallery hours apply for the remainder of the show which are Thursdays from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Heidi Koehler and Helmut Kanduth Photography

From April 1st to 30th Valley Visual Artists Heidi Koehler and Helmut Kanduth will be exhibiting their photographic art at the Courthouse Gallery. Their works cover and broad range of subjects and also highlight the natural beauty of the Nicola Valley's landscapes and wildlife.
Also to be seen are a selection of Helmut's paintings.

PRISM showing at the Courthouse Art Gallery

This March – PRISM - which consists of Valley Visual Artist members Jean Kiegerl, Shirley Reynolds & Wendy Eckhout will be showing their work at the Courthouse Gallery in Merritt.
The reception for the event is Friday, March 4th, from 6pm to 8pm so be sure to come and enjoy the wonderful diversity of art that is to be displayed by these talented painters!

Reception and Fundraiser Info

On February 18th (Friday) there will be a reception for the 5th annual NVCAC Community Arts Show from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Courthouse Art Gallery located at 1840 Nicola Ave., Merritt, B.C.

This exhibition of art showcases many of our members as well as creative talent in the broader area of the Nicola Valley.

Admission is by donation so be sure to attend and support the art and artists!


The VVA Steak Dinner Fundraiser is, unfortunately, canceled and will be postponed for another time.

Current and Upcoming Happenings:

There will be a show in February at the Courthouse Gallery. It is the 5TH Annual Community Arts Show with the (juried) theme being “Winter in the Nicola Valley” with prizes being $100 adult, $80 teen, $50 child,$300 best of show. Non-juried art can be of any subject matter. The show will run from February 3 to 26 with a reception on February 18 from 6:00-8:00pm where the jury results will be read. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the show.

This show is open to all residents of the Nicola Valley.

Up to 3 pieces can be submitted and all work must be submitted by 12 noon on February 3. Artwork can also be dropped off at the Courthouse Art Gallery during regular hours between January 27 to February 3. The art should be framed and ready to hang.

Courthouse Gallery hours are Thurs 4:00-8:00pm, Friday and Saturday 10:00am to 4:00pm.

This show is being sponsored by the Nicola Valley Community Arts Council and the Province as well as the Assembly of BC Arts Councils and because of money made available from grants the Courthouse Gallery will purchase a piece from this particular show to begin it's permanent collection.
